  4. This is the prettiest thing I’ve ever read in a casebook; too bad it isn’t about law school.

    compulsivelawyer:

“Utopia is the imaginary society in which humankind’s deepest yearings, noblest dreams, and highest of ambitions come to fulfillment, where all physical, social, and spiritual forces work together, in harmony, to permit the attainment of everything people find necessary and desireable … Utopia is held together by commitment rather than coercion, for in utopia what people want to do is the same as what they have to do; the interests of the individuals are congruent with the interests of the group; and personal growth and freedom entail responsibility for others.”

From “Commitment and Community: Communes and Utopias in Sociological Perspective” by Rosabeth Moss Kanter

  5. "He knew why he wanted to kiss her. Because she was beautiful. And before that, because she was kind. And before that, because she was smart and funny. Because she was exactly the right kind of smart and funny. Because he could imagine taking a long trip with her without ever getting bored. Because whenever he saw something new and interesting, or new and ridiculous, he always wondered what she’d have to say about it—how many stars she’d give it and why."

  13. Every time I’m in NYC, I always drop by Strand. And every time I go, I tell myself to get one, maybe two books.

I always come out with at least 6.

To say that I love this bookstore is a massive understatement.
